Alex Improves his Anxiety and His Grades
"It's a minor case of BVD, but I did have BVD."
Alex’s grades started dropping in ninth grade.
He couldn’t focus. He couldn’t sit still in class. He was anxious in a way that didn’t feel like school anxiety. The pattern looked like ADHD. He didn’t have the headaches and nausea his family had. Whatever this was, he didn’t think it had anything to do with his eyes.
His mom told him to get tested anyway.
The exam found a mild case of BVD. Mild was the word. Alex almost didn’t believe a small finding could matter much. He got the glasses.
Two years later, his grades were back to A’s. The anxiety he had carried since ninth grade was gone. The thing he flags first now isn’t the academics. It’s the emotional strength. He’s comfortable being himself. He doesn’t run anxious anymore.
A mild case, he says, was enough to drastically change his life.
00:00 It was ninth or 10th grade. I started struggling in school a little bit. My grades started dropping. I was getting really anxious.
00:06 I was having a hard time focusing. It was kind of like ADHD related stuff. I had a hard time sitting still in a desk at school.
00:13 I had really bad anxiety when it was going on, but I didn’t have any of really the hardcore symptoms my family had like
00:20 the headaches and the nausea. Mine was more like emotional symptoms. I was kind of having issues with my mental health,
00:27 and I didn’t think it could have anything to do with my eyes. So I didn’t really think it was BVD at first,
00:32 but my mom was like, let’s get you tested. Anyway, so I came in and they’re like, yeah, you got some BVD.
00:38 It’s a minor case of BVD, but I did have BVD. And so now I’ve been blessed with the magic glasses, and two
00:44 or three years later, I’m doing great. I’m way less anxious. I’m back to an A student. But the greatest improvement I think I’ve made is
00:53 with my emotional strength because I’m no longer an anxious person. I’m a lot more comfortable with myself, and I owe a lot of that to the magic glasses.
01:02 I didn’t think I had it, even though I had a very mild case of it, it still drastically changed my life,
01:07 and I’m a big fan and I’m really grateful that I came into the appointment.
